    DESCRIPTIONS & INFORMATION

    The Versoud canyon is located in the Vercors massif, halfway between Grenoble, Lyon and Valence. It's a canyoning experience accessible to all, since all the obstacles can be arranged in different ways. The succession of waterfalls and the beautiful suspended basin forming a small natural pool are a real canyoning pleasure.

    The Versoud canyon is a very fun and complete canyon offering all facets of the activity. Here, abseiling, jumps and slides follow one another, leaving little time for walking in the river. The Versoud canyon is a veritable cornucopia of obstacles. It's also a canyon that can be designed with different jump heights and ways of crossing the waterfalls. And if you're game, the abseil into the suspended basin can be transformed into a more or less impressive abseil slide !

    Like the Furon canyon in its upper section, the Versoud canyon is very popular for stag and hen parties - EVG/EVJF - thanks to its playful side, the possible layout of the various obstacles and its proximity to the cities of Grenoble and Lyon. It's also easier and shorter than its neighbor, the canyon des Ecouges Lower Part, just a valley away. So it's easy to imagine a great day's canyoning by linking these two routes !

    In any case, the Versoud canyon is a great half-day sport to enjoy with friends, family or in a group.

    EQUIPMENT

    Provided :
    VERTIC'O provides all the equipment necessary for progression and safety.
    A 5mm neoprene wetsuit, neoprene socks, harness, helmet and descender. Bags, ropes and waterproof canisters are also provided.
    All our equipment complies with PPE standards and is regularly checked.

    A swimming costume
    A pair of closed shoes (trainers or hiking boots)
    A bottle of water (1.5 litres for two people)
    Energy bars
    A lanyard if you need to take your glasses with yo
    A picnic if you are going on a day trip

    Here are a few important rules for canyoning:

  • You must be able to swim and not be afraid of water.
  • You must not have any serious medical problems (heart or respiratory problems, back problems, prostheses or other serious antecedents).
    Asthmatics must also be informed at the time of booking.

    • Don't hesitate to contact us if you find yourself in one of these situations (or others), and we can check together, on a case-by-case basis, whether or not canyoning is possible.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1Is the Versoud canyon accessible to beginners?
    Yes, it's a canyon where all the obstacles can be bypassed or arranged differently, but if you like to play and have thrills, it's also possible!
    2Are all the jumps at Le Versoud compulsory?
    No, none are compulsory. But if you'd like to give it a go, we'll find some very small ones to get you started!
    3How high is the highest jump in the canyon?
    The highest jump in the Versoud canyon is 8m. It is not compulsory and there are even intermediate levels if you prefer.
    4Why don't some of the abseil ropes reach the bottom in the photos?
    These are the famous abseil-toboggans! You start with an abseil and then finish with a slide. But we won't tell you more to keep it a surprise!
    5I'm organising an HEN/STAG party, is the Versoud canyon suitable?
    The Versoud and Furon UPPER part canyoning courses are the 2 most suitable for HEN/STAG party. They are both fun and all the obstacles can be adapted to suit the wishes and levels of each person.

    The Versoud canyon is full of obstacles that can be very challenging if you want to! The abseiling slides can start from quite high up, and the suspended basin is just magnificent. It's another canyon where everything can be adapted to suit the mood and level of the participants. Le Versoud is a great canyoning spot for beginners and experts alike!
    CHARLIE
    You can't get much more condensed than this: abseiling, slides and jumps follow on from each other with virtually no junction. To top it all off, there's a bucolic, country atmosphere!

    What is a canyoning trip like in the Vercors - VERSOUD canyon ?

    Would you like to sign up and discover this beautiful canyon in the Vercors ? Are you from Grenoble or Lyon and want to escape the summer heat ? We'll tell you all about this canyoning trip down the Versoud river with VERTIC'O.

    Once you've contacted us and found a date together, you'll receive an email with full details of this half-day canyoning trip. You'll be asked for some information about yourself so that we can take the right equipment in the right size for everyone. Everything's set, so we'll meet on the big day at the meeting point you'll also receive in the email, the Versoud canyon car park.

    You'll meet your instructor at the canyon car park, and unless there's an exception, you'll be with Charlie or Xavier. From there we'll get kitted out before starting the approach walk that will take us to the start of this canyon in the Vercors.

    Before you set foot in the water, we'll give you a briefing on this canyoning activity. If there are little ones with us, we'll explain how we'll proceed so that they're in the best possible conditions. In the canyon, we'll obviously all stay together, and we'll show you and explain to you at each obstacle how you can get past them, adapting them as best we can so that everyone has a good time. The abseils will follow, interspersed with jumps and slides, and a while later it's time to return to the cars with a short 5-minute walk back to the flat.

    You will then have covered one of the three emblematic canyons of the Vercors: the Furon canyon, the Ecouges canyon and the Versoud canyon.
